I had previously posted about my fear of opening my Christmas gift, the bicycle repair stand. Well, with some motivation from readers and tweeters, I was empowered to finally unleash it from the box last weekend. I was ready for some bike-mechanic action, and therefore, dressed in all-black in order to minimize the effects of any grease stains on my clothes. Looking back at the photo, I look more like a stage-hand than a bike mechanic.
After my feeble attempts, the dude ultimately did the unboxing. I was too weak to pull apart the metal clips that cinched down the cardboard.
Some assembly was required, but we put it together in no time.
The plan is to strip the Bionx electric assist system off Red Savina, and make it lighter and leaner for the dude. He starts a new job with a much more manageable bike commute this week. Maybe we can finally reduce our dependency on the car! Perhaps, perchance.
